Cheshire County Show 2010 is a record breaker!!!
A big thank you to everyone that attended the 2010 Cheshire County Show – helping to make it another record-breaking year.

Over 85,000 people came to this year’s show and huge thanks must go to the team of over 300 volunteers that once again helped to make the event possible.

Our thoughts now turn to next year as we plan another exciting show so we look forward to seeing you again on Tuesday & Wednesday, June 21 & 22.

John Platt Scholarship

John Platt Travel Scholarship

John PlattThe Cheshire Agricultural Society are offering a £2,000 travel scholarship to any young person (aged 18 – 35) residing or working in the county of Cheshire, who wishes to improve their education and/or experience through an opportunity to travel.

The John Platt Travel Scholarship has been created in recognition of John Platt, OBE, DL, Hon DSc, FRAgS, who has, and continues to, support the thriving agricultural community of Cheshire through his many roles within the county. He retains a keen interest in the development of young farmers and young people in the industry as a whole. He has chaired the Cheshire Agricultural Society for nearly 30 years and co-ordinates the Cheshire County Show.

John, himself a keen traveller, believes that much of his personal and professional success is attributed to having had the opportunity to travel and discover new horizons.

Who can apply for the John Platt Travel Scholarship?

Applicants should be aged between 18 and 35 years old at the time of travel and should reside in the county of Cheshire or be employed in the agricultural community and related industries of Cheshire at the time of travel.

What’s expected?

Tractors Harvest MaizeEach applicant will be asked to outline a project that focuses on one of five areas:

  • New technology
  • New or alternative farming methods
  • Diversification
  • Utilisation or sustainability of natural resources
  • Improved profitability within Cheshire agriculture
Successful applicants will be expected, on their return, to make a formal presentation of their findings to the Cheshire Agricultural Society and nominated groups.
