Archers stars to help champion country values at the Cheshire Show

Charles Collingwood and Judy Bennett Stars from the ArchersONE of the country’s most famous fictional landowners is coming to support real farmers at this year’s Cheshire County Show.

Charles Collingwood, who plays the infamous cad Brian Aldridge in BBC Radio 4’s popular radio soap ‘The Archers’, will be championing country values at the two-day event, held at Tabley.

"My character Brian is the biggest and richest landowner in The Archers and I’m sure he would be in his element at an event such as the Cheshire County Show,” said Charles.

A much loved actor and broadcaster, Charles has played Brian in The Archers for 36 years, as well as starring in hit TV shows such as the game show Telly Addicts and Midsummer Murders as well as numerous stage shows.

Charles is also passionate about the countryside and supporting locally sourced organic produce.

"Events like this are where the Archers belongs.  Every day our show touches on matters that affect the countryside so it’s only right that we come to support those that live and work in rural Britain.

"The Archers is such a well loved programme and its amazing how much support we get from fans of the show when we attend public events.”

Charles will also be joined by his wife Judy Bennett, who plays stables owner Shula Hebden-Lloyd in the long running soap.

"This is the first time Judy and I have been to the Cheshire County Show but we both love coming to Cheshire.

"A few years ago we came to give our support to a campaign encouraging people to explore Cheshire’s delights and we are delighted to be back,” said Charles.
