ENTRIES for one of the country’s largest equestrian events are underway with deadlines having been announced for April. Deadlines for entries the Cheshire County Show’s Mitsubishi Gallaghers Light Horse and Pony section have been announced as Friday, April 11, 2008. Now one of the biggest light horse competitions in UK, it also includes qualifiers for Horse of the Year Show. With almost 4,000 entries into the Mitsubishi Gallaghers Light Horse and Pony Section grew by 30 acres last year to accommodate the thousands of riders who compete from across the country. The Cheshire County Show is being held on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 17 and 18, at the Tabley Showground near Knutsford. Competitors wishing to enter their horses and ponies for this year’s Cheshire Show should apply for a schedule from show executive director Nigel Evans. Applications, together with a C5 size reply envelope with a 40p stamp, should be addressed to the Cheshire Agricultural Society, Clay House Farm, Flittogate Lane, Tabley, Knutsford, Cheshire, WA16 0JH. Horse classes include hunters, hacks, cobbs, Arabs, riding horses and coloured horses. Entries are also invited for showing jumping, side saddle, private driving, and the Cuddy Supreme In-Hand Championship qualifier. The pony section will have separate classes for different breeds, including Exmoor, New Forest, Connamara, Highland, Fell, Dales, Welsh Mountain as well as the ridden pony classes. |
